March 19, 2023
Dear Fellow Christian,
This 2023 Theological Forum that will be meeting April 21-23, 2023 (Friday - Sunday) at Valley Baptist Church in Cherry Grove, Oregon. The Forum is a ministry of Dispensational Theological Seminary and Valley Baptist Church of Gaston, Oregon.
The Theological Forum is an annual three-day event. The purpose of the Forum is that saints with an appetite for God and His Word might be edified through the presentation of papers. Throughout the years the Forum has provided a superb source of valuable biblical and theological study and Christian fellowship. Many of the papers are excellent resources for further study of God's Word. It continues to be our desire that the Forum bring glory to the Godhead as we focus our attention on our Lord Jesus Christ. This event provides an opportunity for growing believers to be edified. The Forum is designed to provide substantial teaching of the Word of God that will assist pastors and people in relation to their ongoing growth in the Word of God. The sessions will provide excellent resources for Bible study, preaching and teaching. Often Forum presentations answer longstanding questions related to the Word of God and theological subjects. They provide extensive information that will be of value to any believer with an appetite for understanding God’s Word. Sessions are open to pastors and other interested and growing Christians.
Continental breakfast will be available at 8:30 a.m. each morning. The morning sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. and run through 12:45 p.m. The afternoon sessions begin at 2:00 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. There are no evening sessions. We will have our evening fellowship time at the Cherry Grove church building. There will be an hour break for fellowship etc. with dinner being served at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. This will give an hour for cleanup and locking the building. We trust that many will take advantage of this opportunity. These are valuable opportunities for fellowship and for sharing questions about the Word of God.
Printed papers are written and an oral presentation of each paper is given. In April 2019 220 pages were presented and distributed Papers will be available through the www.vbcoregon.org website after the Forum. The goal of the Forum is to examine the Word of God and to encourage saints to submit to the authority of the Scriptures and especially grace revelation (c. Jn. 13-Rev. 3) which will bring glory to our great God.
We do not select subjects or themes for the speakers. The Holy Spirit has provided a correlation of the topics and contents in special ways and to the glory of God for every Forum. Often it is evident that He assigns subjects for a focus and leads speakers to present material that deals with issues in lives that no human would know. The Word of God is living and powerful (Heb. 4:12).
We trust that the Forum will encourage pastors and other believers to be involved in deeper study of the Scriptures than is necessary for the normal preaching and teaching ministry. The evening meal times will provide further opportunities for sharing questions one on one in a less formal fellowship setting.

Fellowship at the Lordian Table – Enjoy the Commemoration of the Provisions of Grace for the Church which Is His Body at the Communion Table
Valley Baptist Church has authorized sharing the Lordian Table with our saints as we conclude the Forum.
The Forum provides an excellent opportunity for discussion of theological and linguistic questions with seminary professors, pastors and other believers. Plan to bring questions and any notes you would like to share.
A continental breakfast will be provided in the mornings at 8:30 a.m. before the meetings at the church. This will give opportunity for further fellowship and to share a little protein for the day. This will be available for all three days so plan to be early Wednesday morning as well as the other two mornings. Valley Baptist Church of Gaston also provides lunch each day. This year we will be serving evening meals at the church building from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Valley Baptist Church is in the small unincorporated town of Cherry Grove which is located West of Gaston. The street address is 55330 Lovegren Drive. Highway 47 is the highway that runs from Forest Grove and through Gaston. Coming from the north from Forest Grove and the junction of Highway 8 and Highway 47 follow highway 47 south about five miles. There is a sign announcing a turn to Cherry Grove and Patton Valley Road before the actual sign at the turn. Turn right and go straight ahead to the T (.4 miles) and turn left on Patton Valley Road. Proceed on the road 5.3 miles into Cherry Grove. In the community Patton Valley Road veers left at the bottom of a small hill around the corner take the first paved street which is Lovegren Drive. The church building is up the hill about a block. Coming from the south on Highway 47 go through Gaston. On the north end of Gaston there is a Cherry Grove and Patton Valley Road sign on the left just before you leave town. Take the left and follow the road right across a bridge about .1 mile is Bates Road. Turn left on Bates. In about a half a mile Bates Road runs into Patton Valley Road. From that junction it is about five miles to Cherry Grove and the church. The church has no phone so these directions are essential. The Valley Baptist Church building is the only church building in Cherry Grove.
The presentations will be available on the internet (by Zoom) live at times posted for those unable to attend. The information for internet access is on www.vbcoregon.org where the first paragraph gives instructions on how to access Zoom.
We have seven papers this year on important Biblical topics. An offering will be taken to cover Forum expenses and papers. These sessions provide materials that often take the year between Forums to digest. The Word of God is central to the Forum and our appreciation for the God of the Word is heightened every year because of the Forum. The Lord has used the sweet fellowship of the Forum to enhance our anticipation of being together in that great gathering in the northern sky. Today? Perhaps!
We trust that you and any other saints you know with an appetite for biblical study will make every effort to attend and enjoy the blessings of these sessions.

is independent from all affiliation and dedicated to the accurate presentation of the Word of God for the maturing of the Saints and the edifying of the Body of Christ through the spiritual growth of our members.
We are literal in our interpretation of the Scriptures accepting the normal usage of language as God's intention for human readers. As a result, we have a Bible-based theology built upon the grammar of the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek languages.
The Gospel By Which You Are Saved
I Corinthians 15:1-4
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand: By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures."
I Corinthians 15:1-4

Dispensational Theological Seminary
is the extension of the educational ministry of the Valley Baptist Church of Gaston, Oregon. Being such, its purpose is to glorify God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ by accepting students who can reasonably be supposed to have the spiritual gift of pastor-teacher or teacher and to teach courses designed to increase the student's biblical knowledge and equip the student to use library tools to exegete and propagate Biblical knowledge in a local church, so that each Christian may be mature in Christ; Colossians 1:28.
We are located in Cherry Grove, Oregon. We meet in the white church building in the picture. Cherry Grove is 12 miles south and west of Forest Grove. We are 6 miles from Gaston. Please use the "Directions" tab for directions on how to get to our church.
Since we are so far from town, we eat lunch and have the afternoon service before we go home. We bring our own brown bag lunch except on the first Sunday of the month when we have a Pot-luck dinner. On Pot-luck Sunday please bring a hot dish and also either a salad or dessert.
We have many sermons to listen to on our website. You may download any of them and listen to them over and over. We have written material to read or copy on our website.
David K. Spurbeck, Sr. is Professor of Hebrew and Bible Analysis at Dispensational Theological Seminary, located in Gaston, Oregon and Pastor of Valley Baptist Church, Gaston, Oregon located in Cherry Grove. A graduate of Western Baptist Bible College and San Francisco Baptist Theological Seminary, he has been in pastoral ministry since 1970. He has served churches in El Sobrante, California (6 years) and Gaston, Oregon (39 years). He has taught in the Seminary since 1976 teaching Hebrew, Old Testament, Bible Analysis and Pastoral Theology. He is the author of two books: The Christian "In Christ": An Introduction to "In Christ" Truth and Me! A Priest? The Priesthood of the Grace Believer. He was married to his wife Pat for more than 37 years before her death and is the father of two adult children.
The following is a synopsis of The Christian "In Christ". The book was written for the person who has believed 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 which is the gospel for salvation. The subject of this book is a systematic study from Scripture of a believer's Position and Possessions because he is "in Christ." These truths are practical - divinely practical for the true Christian. They are the basis for all spiritual growth. 408 pages.
The following is a synopsis of the book Me! A Priest? It is a book on the Priesthood of the Grace Believer. Every Christian is a priest. No other group of people in history has had the privileges that true Christians do. Aaron, as Israel's high priest, couldn't imagine that anyone could have such superior privileges with God as priests in a kingly, heavenly priesthood. On the day of Pentecost, the Spirit of God began immersing grace believers into the Body of Christ, the Church which is His Body. That Body is a kingdom of priests. As a result, there are unique provisions for the grace believer. This book provides the teaching from Scripture on those unique provisions. The Church doesn't have a Priesthood. It is a Priesthood. 682 pages.
The Christian “In Christ” at $19.95 each plus $4.95 postage = Total $24.90.
Me! A Priest? at $24.95 each plus $4.95 postage = Total $29.90.
